NAOWA Nursery School, Ojo was established on the 26th of September as a mere nursery school that was to feed command children school Ojo. It was initially not autonomous school as it was partially administered by command children School Ojo.
The school opened with an initial intake of 165 pupils from playgroup to nursery two. The first head teacher was Mr Ayiara while the foundation teachers were Mrs Adewole, Mrs Obafenko, Mrs Falayan, Mrs Johnson, Mrs Osawere, Mrs Etuk, Mrs Ogochukwu, Mrs Williams and Late Mrs Oki
The plague and unveiled by the then Chief of Army Staff, Major General I.B Babangida. The school was established to carter for the educational needs of solder’s children and civilian children in the cantonment. The school started off with a block of 5 classrooms, eleven teachers and eight non-teaching staff.
In 2008 under the leadership of the then NAOWA President Mrs Yusuf, the head teacher Mrs A Obiorah resuscitate the primary school section again by including the name “Model” to become NAOWA Model Nursery and primary school. She started from primary one to three and since then, its has been growing from strength to strength. The school bus has presently 26 classrooms 21 teachers, 12 non-teaching and 440 numbers of pupils.
With the present population, it became mandatory to get the school registered so as to be recognized as a full-fledged Nursery and Primary School that will compete with the existing schools within the cantonment
Thanks to the present NAOWA National President, Mrs UKT Buratai, who saw this and declared that the school must be registered. This of course necessitated the renovation of the school, Now this school ranks among the best Nursery and primary school in the state today.
The mantle of leadership later moved to Mr Ebere in 1997 with the member of teaching staff rising to 22 teachers and nine non-teaching staff. Due to the increasing growth of the school, the management decided to turn the school into a full fledge nursery and primary school in 1992 but the idea failed due to mis management and the seventy of the environments.
